Event description:
What’s It All About?
Whilst it is a commonly held belief that ‘an Englishman’s home is his castle’ this does not mean that you are free to do whatever you like on your own property.
As soon as someone’s activities start to interfere with someone else's enjoyment of their land, they run the risk of the local Environmental Protection Officer becoming involved. If these activities are causing a Statutory Nuisance the Council will require ‘abatement of the nuisance’ - in other words, stop causing a problem.
Who Should Attend
If you are an environmental professional or have a responsibility for environmental issues with regard to the impact of noise, then this Roadshow is designed for you. This will apply equally if you work in industry, local authority, construction or consultancy.
Aims and Objectives
This Roadshow will give you an overview into the current standards and legislation regarding environmental matters (e.g. British Standard BS 4142, Planning Policy Guidance PPG 24 and the World Health Organisation Guidance) and will show you how to interpret a detailed environmental noise survey report. You will look at Local Authority implemented guidelines issued on subjects ranging from “Clubs and Pubs” noise to “Barking Dogs”, and not forgetting ‘’Noisy Neighbours.’’ The informal presentations will also covers Acoustic Theory; Noise Reduction Techniques; Instrumentation and Measurement.
