It always astounds us how quickly the years fly by, and this is certainly no exception!

Let’s take a look at what we’ve been up to at Castle, what’s been going on in the industry and what else you can see coming up for the rest of 2022!

Scarborough Science and Engineering Week

We’ve always been a massive advocate of this local event, which we have exhibited at for what will be our 13th year! It’s great when those young minds realise what we do and we can see the wheels starting to turn. What’s incredible, is that one day one of those brilliant minds might be making your next noise or vibration meter!

And it wouldn’t be engineering week if we didn’t hold the annual competition to see who is the loudest, and we don’t mean Simon’s jackets, the world-famous shouting competition! SIOUXEE!!

Updates from industry

With the update to the guidance for the Control of Noise at Work Regulations now over 1-year-old, we hope you have been able to update all your risk assessments to include some of the new requirements. If you’re not sure how this affects you, then you can still go back and watch the webinar we ran covering all the changes. There is also a guidebook you can download and failing all that, get in touch and one of the team will happily answer any questions you might have.

Guy Waites

Last year we had the great pleasure of sponsoring local sailor Guy Waites. Guy is currently fulfilling a lifelong dream of sailing solo around the world in the 2022 Golden Globe Race! It has been incredible to have been on the journey with Guy to the start line, on September 4th from Les Sables d’Olonne, France. Castle Training Academy

If any one of you has ever been on our training courses, you’ll know how much we love to see you, and also how much Simon likes to go out for dinner! The best part about our courses apparently is that you get a little mini break, by the sea, paid for by work! But also you know how renowned we are for the first-class training we deliver. So don’t worry if you haven’t made it to Scarborough this year it’s not too late:

• HAVS & Whole Body Vibration – 18 to 20 October and 6 to 8 December
• Environmental Noise BS4142 – 8 to 10 November
• Noise at Work – 22 to 24 November

Can’t make it to Scarborough? We also offer all our courses as open & e-learning, short refresher courses and if there are a few that need training, on-your-site, where we can come to you! Did you know we also do free Webinars? (Keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming dates!)
