Complaints of noise disturbance from people living near night-clubs often results in the intervention of Environmental Health Officers, and can lead to the loss of an entertainment licence if the noise is not controlled. The Electronic Orange is a sound level switch that interrupts the mains supply to amplification equipment. If the sound level switch is allowed to go above a pre-set value, a warning light will illuminate to warn the operator to reduce the volume. Allowing the warning level to be exceeded by a certain amount will result in the power being cut! The result is an embarrassing pause and a more careful DJ!

Other features include a three-colour LED bar graph display showing the varying sound level and external switching which allows the power to be cut when doors or windows are opened. There is also anti-tamper circuitry, which prevents the unit from being over-ridden.

There is a choice of an 'A' weighting or 'B' weighting characteristic, which is more effective for bass control. Outputs are available for remote analogue or digital displays.
