Castle Calibration provide professional sound meter calibration services, giving you fantastic and unrivalled value for your money.
Our calibration engineers in our laboratory are greatly experienced in servicing and calibrating almost all types acoustic measuring equipment, including sound meters, noise meters, dosimeters and multi-purpose equipment.
As a minimum, all instruments returned receive our standard service and calibration which includes basic upkeep and minor repairs, along with testing of the available Frequency Weightings (a minimum of 10 points per each weighting), plus Linearity (scaling and ranging) tests, and Time Weighting tests (based on the appropriate BSEN or IEC standard, and/or any other technical information available from the original equipment manufacturer). We also provide an indication of the meter's response to its associated acoustic calibrator (with microphone cavity correction, where available).

Sound meters and their calibrators need regular calibration for many applications including:
The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) has issued a guide (LAB23) on calibration of Sound Meters and Calibrators in which it states recommended calibration intervals for various types of equipment, some of which is listed here:
All instruments returned receive our standard service and calibration which includes basic upkeep and minor repairs, along with testing of the available Frequency Weightings (a minimum of 10 points per each weighting), plus Linearity (scaling and ranging) tests, and Time Weighting tests (based on the appropriate BSEN or IEC standard, and/or any other technical information available from the original equipment manufacturer). Castle Group also provides an indication of the meters response to its associated acoustic calibrator (with microphone cavity correction, where available).
For a GA116B Class 1 Sound Level Meter, for example, this would give a 32-point certificate detailing the response of the A and C Frequency Weightings, Fast and Slow Time Weightings, Range and scaling data, and response to an associated GA607 Class 1 Acoustic Calibrator (if returned with the meter).
All instruments returned receive our standard service and calibration which includes basic upkeep and minor repairs, along with testing of the available Frequency Weightings (a minimum of 10 points per each weighting), plus expanded Linearity (scaling and ranging) tests, and Time Weighting and Tone Burst tests for Leq response (based on the appropriate BSEN or IEC standards, and/or any other technical information available from the original equipment manufacturer). Castle Group also provides an indication of the meters response to its associated acoustic calibrator (with microphone cavity correction, where available).
For a GA117 Class 1 Integrating Sound Level Meter, for example, this would give a 122-point certificate detailing the response of the A, C, and Z Frequency Weightings, Fast and Slow Time Weightings, Expanded ranging and scaling data, Leq Tone Burst Response, and response to an associated GA607 Class 1 Acoustic Calibrator (if returned with the meter).
All instruments returned receive our standard service and calibration which includes basic upkeep and minor repairs, along with testing of the available Frequency Weightings (a minimum of 10 points per each weighting), additional microphone response data (where applicable), expanded Linearity (scaling and ranging) tests, Time Weighting and Tone Burst tests for Leq response (based on the appropriate BSEN or IEC standards, and/or any other technical information available from the original equipment manufacturer), and tests of the Single (1/1) or Third (1/3) Octave Band Filter responses demonstrating the frequency band attenuation response and insertion loss. Castle Group also provides an indication of the meters response to its associated acoustic calibrator (with microphone cavity correction, where available).
For a GA117 Class 1 Leq Sound Level Meter with 1/1 Octaves, for example, this would give a 187-point certificate detailing the response of the A, C, and Z Frequency Weightings, Fast and Slow Time Weightings, Expanded ranging and scaling data, Leq Tone Burst Response, response of the Octave Band frequency filters, plus the meters response to the associated GA607 Class 1 Acoustic Calibrator (if returned with the meter).
All instruments returned receive our standard service and calibration which includes basic upkeep and minor repairs, along with testing of the available Frequency Weightings (a minimum of 10 points per each weighting), additional microphone response data (where applicable), expanded Linearity (scaling and ranging) tests, Time Weighting and Tone Burst tests for Leq response (based on the appropriate BSEN or IEC standards, and/or any other technical information available from the original equipment manufacturer), and tests of both the Single (1/1) and Third (1/3) Octave Band Filter responses demonstrating the frequency band attenuation response and insertion loss. Castle Group also provides an indication of the meters response to its associated acoustic calibrator (with microphone cavity correction, where available).
For a GA117 Class 1 Leq Sound Level Meter with 1/1 & 1/3 Octaves, for example, this would give a 250-point certificate detailing the response of the A, C, and Z Frequency Weightings, Fast and Slow Time Weightings, Expanded ranging and scaling data, Leq Tone Burst Response, response of the Single- and Third-Octave Band frequency filters, plus the meters response to the associated GA607 Class 1 Acoustic Calibrator (if returned with the meter).
