Industrial Deafness is the new “Whiplash”

Claims law firms are reacting to the imposed reduction in legal costs for whiplash claims by turning their attention towards Industrial Deafness (caused by Noise at Work) as their new “cash cow”.

Industrial Deafness claims caused by Noise at Work are replacing Whiplash claims caused by car crashes

It’s no secret that Industrial Deafness Claims are on the rise. One insurer for example witnessed a fourfold increase in claims between 2009 and 2014 (Aviva.com, 2015). An article published on the Association of British Insurers states that, “for every £1 an insurer pays out in compensation to the claimant, they pay out just over £3 in legal fees to the claimant’s lawyer.” (ABI, 2014), which goes some way to explaining such a rise.

To ensure you can properly avoid and defend any Industrial Deafness claims, it’s vital that you comply with the HSE’s regulations that affect your business. Castle Group Ltd are inviting you to a one day Noise training course to enable you do exactly that.

Simon Bull, Managing Director of Castle Group Ltd, “Until the laws regarding the solicitors fees for Industrial Deafness claims are capped, claim law firms will be keen to execute as many of these Industrial Deafness claims as possible. When, not if, this change happens, the same claims law firms will move onto other areas which could likely be HAVS or COSHH. This means thousands of businesses are at risk if their employees are exposed to Noise, Vibration, or Hazardous Substances.”

The one day Noise training course is part of a series of three, covering HAVS (Hand Arm Vibration), and Air Sampling & COSHH, designed to help you create a safer workplace culture, as well as enabling you to prepare and successfully defend claims.

On each day you’ll learn how to best use the latest equipment to take measurements as part of your risk assessments, you’ll learn exactly what the regulations actually mean for your business, you’ll understand the basics of each subject including how exposure can affect the human body, how to monitor and limit employee exposure, and how to take control of Noise, Vibration, and Hazardous Substances respectively.

You’ll also be given a free instrument which will help you get started when you go back to your workplace. You’ll be treated to coffee and cake breaks as well as a buffet lunch through the day, so you are ensured to have an enjoyable day out of your normal workplace.
