The Power of Sound

Don’t Underestimate the Power of Sound

Fire Extinguisher

Two University students have defied their sceptics and have designed a device that uses the power of sound to extinguish fires

The device produces sound between 30 and 60 hertz which pushes oxygen away from the source of the flames, in effect starving the fire from oxygen.

Is this the future of Fire and Rescue?

At this stage the device has only been tested on small scale alcohol fires, although in principle there is nothing to suggest that a scaled up version would fail to have the same effect.

Keep a look out for Firemen and Firewomen carrying specialist bass sub woofer fire extinguishers into burning buildings in the near future.
